No Patch 13.2 Due to the Cyber Attack Targeting Riot Games

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

Some massive changes are about to hit the live servers despite 13.1B being a hotfix patch.

Due to the recent social engineering attack and system compromises at Riot Games, the dev team won’t be able to go ahead with the planned patch 13.2. But thankfully, there is a hotfix coming in as patch 13.1B. Because of the nature of this patch, 13.1B is not like an everyday hotfix. When looking at the change list, it is arguably more comprehensive than the 2023 Preseason changes with multiple classes and items getting adjusted, on top of the regular champion buff and nerfs.

On the champions’ front, there isn’t anything unexpected. Only a few underperforming champions like Zoe and Orianna are getting buffed, while the nerf list is a lot more extensive with pro play already dooming some champions. Champions like Maokai, Lucian/Nami, Yuumi and Heimerdinger have been dominating on the professional stage, so they are getting toned down a bit. Other significant nerfs are to Kassadin and Ryze, who were the biggest winners of the Rod of Ages and Seraph’s Embrace changes in the last patch.

Now to the meat of the patch 13.1B. Riot had already announced some big adjustments to fighters and ADCs as the player complaints about both classes kept rising as the season started. Thankfully, these changes are not getting delayed and they will be available on live servers with the hotfix patch. The main fighter changes are centered around access to Ability Haste with items and changing Omnivamp on overperforming items to Lifesteal.

AD Carry adjustments though are two-pronged. The first set of changes is to the champions, their mana pools and/or their abilities’ mana costs. These are aimed to make the role less reliant on the Presence of Mind rune and open up more options during the champ select. Devs were also planning to buff Overheal, but that change seems to be missing from the patch. The next set of changes is to the capstone items of the class, Infinity Edge and Navori Quickblades. Now both of these items’ passives will be active when players reach 40% Critical Strike Chance, making them an early buy options and opening up more build paths for late-game.

When does LoL patch 13.1B go live?

Patch 13.1B is a hotfix patch and will go live on January 26 instead of the planned 13.2 patch.

The first region that the patch will drop is the Oceania servers at 6 AM AEDT. The rest of the servers will follow suit in the morning hours of their respective regions. Here are the timings for most servers:

  • 3 AM PT (NA)
