New Teamfight Tactics Galaxy Championships announced by Riot Games

by Ben Hill

The Galaxies Championship, a public esports tournament for the battler fighting crown, has been announced by Riot Games in Teamfight Tactics.

The estimated prize pool for the event is $200,000 (£160,126), and at the time of writing, it has no set launch date. Teamfight Tactics: the Galaxy Championship will be eligible regionally in Brazil, China, Europe.

For the tournament series and regional finals, a system based on merit will be created which will allow ‘high talent players to qualify for major competitions.’ There are different qualification points for each region involved, depending on where the game is common and where the top player level is.

Since its launch in 2019, Riot Games has had three Teamfight Tactics Invites, including the 2019 League of Legend All-star and the recent Galaxies Showcase. Invitational tournaments have been held. The project also has group guidelines for organisers of the third-party tournament.
