- Southeast Asian esports organizer MET Events will host the last PUBG Classic event of the 2019 season, in Bangkok, Thailand.
- Taking place in July, the MET Asia Series will feature a $300K USD prize pool and teams only from the Asia region.
- The winning region will be award an extra slot in the upcoming $2M PUBG Global Championship.
MET Events and PUBG Corporation will partner to host the final PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS 
(PUBG) Classic for the game’s competitive season. The MET Asia Series will feature professional teams from Asia, a prize pool of $300K, and will take place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Thailand.
Sponsors and media partners for the MET Asia Series have not yet been announced. Participating regions will regroup the best teams from their professional leagues, with the exception of Southeast Asia, which currently runs a dedicated tournament circuit system—the final qualification format has not yet been confirmed.
The event will be taking place around the same time as the GLL Grand Slam, another PUBG Classic event with teams from Europe, Latin America, North America, and Oceania. The winning teams from both events will earn their respective regions an additional slot in the 2019 PUBG Global Championship, a $2M prize pool tournament at the end of the year.

Based in the Philippines, MET Events is part of Mineski Corporation. Competitions run by the company have included the Mobile Legends Professional League, Dota 2 Manila Masters, and ESL
One Manila. The company also worked with Mars Media to run the production and English language broadcast for the recent MDL Disneyland Paris Major for Dota 2.
MET Events also organized the PUBG Southeast Asia Championship this year. The event was originally meant to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, but was canceled and held online, as “the location, unfortunately, did not meet the requirements necessary for the tournament”, according to the PUBG Facebook page.
In a report published in April, PUBG Corp. announced that Asian markets accounted for 64% of the company’s operating revenue in 2018, approximately ₩556.2B KRW ($487M). Southeast Asian countries were also the first to trial the Beta Test version of PUBG Lite, a free-to-play, low spec version of the game currently in development.
