Spanish multimedia and communications group Mediapro
has acquired the remaining 50% stake of Fandroid, the parent company of Spanish esports organizer, Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP).Palco23 first reported the deal, and pegged the acquisition cost at €22M ($24.6M USD). Mediapro has confirmed the acquisition to The Esports Observer, but did not confirm the amount, provide comment, or make further information available.
Mediapro first acquired a majority stake in Fandroid in October 2016 to the tune of €4.6M ($5.1M USD). The LVP operates the Spanish Superliga Orange league, which includes competitions for games such as League of Legends

According to Palco23, Fandroid had €6.5M ($7.3M USD) in revenue for 2017, the most recent year’s data available, and logged 28.6M total viewers in 2018—a 64% increase over 2017. Last November, Mediapro launched its U-Beat streaming platform in Spain and Latin America.
