Riot not interested to change employee contracts

Riot Games recently responded to the demands of employees who on May 6 called a strike at the company’s office. The developers of League of Legends called the event an important episode in the transformation of Riot. Yet came out with a a verdict that they would not make changes to labor contracts until they figure out all the active legal processes.

The striking employees demanded that Riot Games abandon the clause in the contracts, which obliged the employees to resolve all issues of discrimination and sexual harassment in the company through arbitration. To achieve this, more than 150 people went on strike on May 6, some of them filed lawsuits against Riot.

The developers of League of Legends noted that new employees will receive a modified version of the contract, which meets the requirements of the strike. In addition, the company will establish a council that will help improve corporate culture and make work at Riot more secure.

For the first time, journalists in the summer of 2018 told about discrimination in the studio that created League of Legends. After that, the company management promised to correct the situation, but most of the employees considered that their demands were not met.

Echo parting way with an investor

The management of Echo Fox said that the organization will stop working with an investor soon. Earlier, the representative of Vision Venture Partners insulted the former CEO of the club on racial grounds.

On April 25, the Dexerto portal announced that the owner of Echo Fox – former professional basketball player Rick Fox was about to leave the organization. The reason behind this shocking decision was a skirmish between the former general director of the club, James Hall, and an unnamed investor in the team. In a private correspondence with representatives of Echo Fox, Rick Fox noted that “racism is anathema to his personal brand.”

On May 15, the LCS commissioner Chris Greeley said that there was no place for hatred, threats and intolerance in the league. The organization gave Echo Fox 60 days to resolve the conflict and threatened with official sanctions.

Over a million people watched Invictus Gaming vs Team Liquid

More than 1.3 million people watched the semi-final standoff between Team Liquid and Invictus Gaming at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational League of Legends. The number of spectators is a record for tournaments of the MSI series. Statistics were provided by service Esports Charts.
