How to deal with Spectre in Patch 7.32e?

by Zlosterr

Here’s how you can deal with that pesky Spectre in your PUBS in patch 7.32e.

Dota 2’s latest patch 7.32e changed the previous meta by nerfing many popular heroes. The Dead Reckoning update featured a new hero, new features, and loads of small hero changes and item changes. Unsurprisingly, some Dota 2 heroes became much more popular than the rest, and Spectre is among them.

Even though the late-game monster didn’t receive any direct buffs or nerfs, her win rate increased a lot in the last week. In fact, Specter is the most successful hero in Dota 2 right now. Some players will be surprised that she’s on the list, but we must remember that Radiance received a substantial buff. Consequently, all heroes that usually go for this item became more popular because they can get it faster.

Once you read the Spectre Dota 2 guide, you will know what to focus on and how to make the most of the hero. With that said, the idea of this article is to walk you through the different things you can do when playing against her. So, let’s dive in.

Picking the right hero

When it comes down to picking a Dota 2 Spectre counter, you have to be careful and pick a hero that can do well against her. Spectre is a late-game carry, meaning the hero will go to the safe lane and try to farm as much as possible. The hero you have to pick against her depends entirely on your position and role in the game.

If you are a support, there aren’t that many options to go for because Spectre is one of the worst carries you can go up against. However, heroes like Omniknight and IO are usually slightly better than the rest. IO can potentially kite Spectre and use his ult to escape. As for Omni, he has his ultimate and heals, which may save him or his teammate.

Moving to offlaners, this is one of the most important positions when playing vs Spectre. Picking a good offlane can make a huge difference, but the hero you must go for depends on many things. For example, many players decide to pick an aggressive offlaner, such as Lone Druid or Timbersaw, and use them to pressure the hero.

Up next, we have mid-laners, and the best options are usually heroes with high burst damage. Lina (before the nerfs) was pretty good, but the same can be said about Templar Assassin, Viper, and even Necrophos.

Lastly, when talking about Dota 2 Specter counters, we need to mention other carries. There are a couple of solid options to pick from, such as Lone Druid, Life Stealer, and Troll Warlord. Other carries can work too, but it all depends on the other heroes and the given team’s lineup.

Playing vs Spectre in the early game

When talking about the Dota 2 patch 7.32e, the most common Dota 2 Spectre build is the one where people rush Radiance. The latter is slightly cheaper than before, allowing the hero to get it much faster and use it against her opponents. If that’s the case, your job is to delay this item as much as possible so that she doesn’t have that big of an impact.

The only efficient way to do this is by pressuring Spectre’s lane and constantly ganking her. Although it may not seem that effective, applying pressure from the get-go is the most efficient way of slowing her down. Every Spectre player will want to get Radiance as fast as possible because the item will allow the hero to farm faster and do a lot more damage. As a result.

In an ideal scenario, you will keep applying pressure, and she will have no other option but to change the lane or go to the jungle. Sadly, most teams won’t let that happen and will help her get as much farm as possible.

Dealing with the hero in the mid-game

Whether you see a Dota 2 Spectre Aghanim build or the hero decides to go for Radiance, the mid-game is extremely important. If things go right for the late-game monster, she can easily take control and carry her team in the next couple of minutes. With that said, Spectre’s mid-game performance depends a lot on her early game.

Assuming you did okay early on, the Dota 2 Spectre item build won’t be that impressive for the mid-game. Therefore, your job will be to continue to apply pressure and try to destroy all T1 and T2 towers on the map. Doing this will allow you to secure the map for yourself and limit the places where she can farm, which will slow her down.

If that’s impossible and you have lost the early game, it will be tough to stop Specter from taking over. In this situation, your goal should be to survive as long as possible and help your cores get the needed farm to deal with the hero. Sadly, this is easier said than done.

The late-game scenario

Spectre from Dota 2 in a shadowy landscape

Regardless of the Dota 2 patches we discuss, there is no argument that Spectre is among the best late-game carries. This is also true for 7.32e, which is why playing against the hero at this stage of the game is often more complicated than it seems.

Assuming everything went okay for her, Spectre will have 6 slots, around 3.5K HP, and tons of damage. Unsurprisingly, there isn’t much you can do to stop her, but this depends entirely on your draft.

As mentioned earlier, certain heroes are usually good vs this Dota 2 carry. Necrophos, for example, can always use his ult when Spectre has low HP and kill her. Faceless Void in combination with heroes like Invoker, can also work well against the deadly carry.

With that said, Spectre is usually the strongest hero on the map at this stage, so you have to be really careful when playing.
