Halo Championship Series (HCS) has partnered with event organiser FACEIT to launch the Halo MCC Pro Series.

The MCC Pro Series is an online tournament series for amateur and professional players alike. The event series will debut on May 23 with Halo 2: Anniversary, with promise of expanding the series to include other Halo: Master Chief Collection titles as they release on PC.

A total of eight online events each utilising a single-elimination format and $5,500 (£4,463.80) in cash prizes will underline the league’s premiere. HCS has also said it will explore “the possibility of hosting an at-home remote broadcast” of the Halo MCC Pro Series.

Halo 2: Anniversary began its PC flighting on April 17th, and is slated to make its full debut on the Steam Marketplace May 12th. The remainder of Halo: Master Chief Collection, which includes Halo 3, Halo ODST, and Halo 4, will be ported to PC in chronological order.

In February, HCS announced event operations company Esports Engine would head the global esports efforts of Halo Infinite. According to Microsoft, Halo Infinite is set to release this holiday season on PC, and its forthcoming console, Xbox Series X.

Esports Insider says: While minor in the much grander scheme of global esports competition and prize, the Halo MCC Pro Series should be able to activate Halo’s competitive player base – especially during this time of quarantine. With nearly two decades of Xbox exclusivity, the new event series will offer HCS time to iron out any kinks prior to the release of Halo Infinite.
