India based organization Global Esports has announced a partnership with gaming hardware manufacturer Razer. Through this partnership, Razer has been appointed as the official gaming equipment sponsor for Team Singapore and Team India at the upcoming Overwatch World Cup (OWWC).

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Rushindra Sinha, co-founder of Global Esports said, “We are extremely excited to be working with one of the best in the industry and we hope this  to be the start of a long-lasting relationship.”

“It has always been our objective to develop esports in the region,” said David Tse, global esports director at Razer. “Through this partnership, we hope to provide the necessary support that gamers need and ensure that the teams are equipped with the best peripherals for an outstanding competition experience.”

OWWC will take place on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 at BlizzCon (Blizzard Entertainment’s annual gaming convention) at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, California. Eligible countries elected a community lead, a coach, and a general manager through voting. This committee then selected players to represent their country at the tournament. Blizzard has only provided financial aid for the top 10 teams from last year while the rest of the participants would need to arrange for the necessary funds and/or sponsorships themselves. Due to this, a number of teams including those from Switzerland, Brazil, and Malaysia among others have dropped out of OWWC.

In October, Global Esports announced a partnership with Harrisburg University that would provide Team India with a bootcamp and an opportunity to train under the guidance of former Philadelphia Fusion player, Joe “Joemeister” Gramano.
