Fortnite Champions Series Returning for $5M Chapter 2 Season 1

Following this week’s release of Fortnite’s Chapter 2 update, which introduced a brand new map and gameplay mechanics to the game, Epic Games has announced plans for the next Fortnite Champions Series competitive season.

Chapter 2: Season 1 of the Fortnite Champions Series will begin on Nov. 1 and span four weekends of three-round Squads (four-player team) competitions. The Season Finals will take place online on Dec. 6-8, with Epic Games awarding $5M USD total throughout the season across all regions and competitions.

The season will also include weekly Cash Cup tournaments and platform-specific tournaments. Epic Games will also host a Champions Series Warmup tournament next weekend to let players practice ahead of the season. No prize money will be awarded for the Warmup tournament.

The previous Fortnite Champions Series season awarded $10M across regions and concluded on Sept. 22. According to Esports Earnings, Fortnite competitions have awarded more than $84.3M to date.
