The Overwatch League has released details regarding its playoff format for the 2020 season, which will feature teams being split across two regions. Thirteen teams will compete in North America and seven in Asia with all matches taking place online.
The champions of each region’s winners and losers brackets will then make up the final four teams to compete in a Grand Finals Tournament. These teams will travel to a location in Asia yet-to-be-revealed in order to address potential issues with online latency and technical challenges. These matches will also take place online and will “not be played in an arena or studio space,” according to the announcement.
A video released alongside the announcement indicates that there will be a multi-week break between the playoffs and Grand Finals for teams to travel and maintain safe COVID-19 procedures.
