Esports Entertainment Group (EEG), based in New Jersey, has announced a collaboration with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on an in-person event inside the casino.

EEG and Hard Rock Atlantic City will hold a Madden NFL 22 esports skill-based wagering contest on January 22nd and 23rd. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has certified the tournament as a two-day, 256-person event.

LANDuel, EEG’s event operations platform, will allow participants to wager on themselves during each round of the tournament.

In addition, tournament spectators and casino guests will be able to wager on their own matches outside of the tournament on PCs in the event venue.

“We are incredibly excited to work with one of the leading worldwide hotel and casino venues to jumpstart the world of regulated peer to peer wagering in esports,” said Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment Group, in a statement.

“This relationship and event is a huge win for our brand, and it opens up a lot of doors for our teams to participate in additional unique esports events.”

The agreement is expected to make esports betting events and installations a “permanent” activity at the casino and hotel venue in the future, according to a press statement.

“We are tremendously excited to offer a one-of-a-kind esports wagering experience in cooperation with EEG,” said Joe Lupo, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.

“We are certain that this forward-thinking, highly regulated relationship will be a success, adding to our market-leading gaming services.”
