ESL announces new Dota 2 Asia Championship

by Rahul Bhatta

The ESL Asia Championship has been announced in order to build competitiveness in south-eastern Asia by ESL Asia, a regional Dota 2 tournament.

The winner will be in the closed SEA qualifiers of May’s ESL One Birmingham 2020 competition, with an award of $20,000 (£15,431.50).

The announcements also excite many esports betting sites and the industry as a whole.

“There is a lack of opportunities for emerging teams and we wanted to develop a developed product to address this issue. Michael Kiefer, Head of Products at ESL Asia, said in a report: With the ESL SEA Championship, which offers direct access to the closed ESL One Birmingham 2020 qualifiers, the ESL One SEA Championship provides additional resources and financial support for players, as well as a more interesting storey for fans. The finals will be held on 4-5 April to decide on the team that will be competing to participate in Birmingham’s big $300,000 (£231,472,50), this May. All ESL SEA matches will be streamed via ESL Asia Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook channels in English. All matches are played.

“The Zero-to-Hero concept has always been a very important aspect for us, and we’re excited about a direct link between our regional and global product,” said Nick Vanzetti, Senior Vice President of ESL Asia-Pacific Japan. This is a great start to 2020, and we will keep the path to pro as straightforward as possible.
