EG Defeat 100T With the Classic Nexus for Baron Trade

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

In the exciting first game of the LCS Superweek, we saw three former 100 Thieves players go against each other.

Ssumday, FBI and Closer were a part of the 100T team that made three straight LCS Finals and won the first trophy in the organization’s LoL Esports history. Today’s game was the first time these players got to play against each other after the former two left the team during the off-season, with the only remaining player from the championship team being the jungler Closer.

The first day of the Superweek was also crucial for teams at the bottom of the league. Dignitas were still looking for their first victory in the 2023 LCS Spring Split. Thankfully they finally got to play with their intended support, IgNar, who couldn’t play the first three weeks due to visa issues. Another two teams looking for wins were Immortals and CLG. Both teams had only two weeks coming into Week 4, and both teams have very tough schedules to close out the first round robin.

EG vs 100T

100T were the team to draw the first blood with a sneaky bot lane gank from Closer. But with Doublelift blowing his flash for the kill and Jojo getting a lot of mid pressure from a kill on Bjergsen, EG were able to answer with their own bot lane plays. They targeted the 100T duo multiple times, getting their own bot lane and mid laner far ahead. Combined with two bad Herald contests from 100T, they were able to take the control of the game.

EG were still pretty conservative about pushing their lead. While waiting for powerspikes meant they were able to take two Barons, but it also gave 100T the opportunity to delay the Soul, farm and get their own items, especially on Doublelift’s Jinx. As we reached the 45th minute and the third Baron spawned, the 7.5k gold lead meant nothing as 100T carries reached full build. So the Thieves decided to try for a Baron of their own, but EG punished them massively as they rushed into the enemy base and took their Nexus.

  • Teams: EG 1 – 0 100T
  • Time: 45:01
  • Kills: 13 – 6
  • Turrets: 10 – 3
  • Gold: 80.7k – 73.6k
  • Dragons: 3 – 3
  • Barons: 2 – 1

FLY vs IMT

With Prince dominating the LCS since the start of Spring, Spica was once again quick to visit the bot lane and get the first blood for his ADC. IMT put up a decent fight in the early game, making plays like Ablazeolive’s solo dive on VicLa, but FLY showed once again how hard it is to stop them from snowballing leads. IMT’s spot was especially hard as FLY team comp was much better for teamfighting, but their inability to find any opportunities during mid game definitely did not help. FLY eventually got an early Baron after another fight went in their favor, but they didn’t even need the Baron as they pushed the bot lane and just force their way into ending the game.

  • Teams: FLY 1 – 0 IMT
  • Time: 28:07
  • Kills: 15 – 4
  • Turrets: 9 – 2
  • Gold: 55.8k – 44.4k
  • Dragons: 2 – 1
  • Barons: 1 – 0

TL vs CLG

Guess the 13.3 patch did something to change the bot lane meta as we got ourselves a Thresh vs. Annie support matchup. But as it always happens with exciting draft picks, neither team focused too much on the bot lane. The main action was toward the top lane where TL got an early lead, but CLG were able to take control as time passed. TL was doing a good job of covering CLG’s side lane plays and utilizing their Ashe ults. They even had a good chance to win the big drake fight during mid game, but Dhokla managed to turn it around with his Irelia as he cleaned up a 1v3, gifting his team a Baron and the Soul point.

TL almost found their way back into the game when they killed the two enemy solo laners around Baron. But another heroic from a CLG member as Contractz walked in and stole the Baron. TL then overchased their opponent and nearly got aced in the 3v5, which ended the game right there.

  • Teams: TL 0 – 1 CLG
  • Time: 31:48
  • Kills: 9 – 15
  • Turrets: 2 – 10
  • Gold: 51.6k – 62.4k
  • Dragons: 1 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 2

DIG vs C9

Finally, a good start to a game for DIG as Santorin found back-to-back ganks in the top lane and got his laner ahead. They were able to use this pressure to secure the first Herald, while C9 tried to answer with a bot lane dive and the first drake. But a fed Jayce wasn’t as impactful as C9’s fed Lucian once the mid game hit, and DIG started losing ground very quickly. Not only C9 had the Soul point on their side, but they even secured a Baron after a great engage in the mid lane.

The gold swing was massive, going from 3k in DIG’s favor to a net 2k toward C9. DIG also had a lot of trouble getting anything done with their split pushing, even with Jayce’s early lead. C9 didn’t meet any resistance as they took the Soul and another Baron, nor when they dove the enemy Nexus towers.

  • Teams: DIG 0 – 1 C9
  • Time: 29:49
  • Kills: 7 – 17
  • Turrets: 5 – 11
  • Gold: 49.9k – 59.3k
  • Dragons: 0 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 2

TSM vs GG

A bit of a slow start to the last game of the day. Not much happened till the first Herald fight, which TSM won handily and got the objective. But they were still massively due to the laning differences. Most of the gold on GG was on Stixxay who got the reward from the solo first turret. He had a 2k gold lead on everyone in the game, and GG utilized their fed bot laner great to push their control and secure the objectives around the Rift. A couple of fights going wrong spelled doom for TSM. Even with a team scaling pretty well, they couldn’t get close to Zeri or Yone.

  • Teams: TSM 0 – 1 GG
  • Time: 33:05
  • Kills: 5 – 15
  • Turrets: 3 – 9
  • Gold: 53.6k – 65.6k
  • Dragons: 1 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 2
