Digital festival company DreamHack has made two partnership announcements regarding its European event circuit; including its first partnership with a professional golf tour.
The European Tour will work with DreamHack to run its first gaming competition—the European eTour Championship—which will take place at Made in Denmark presented by FREJA, an annual golfing tournament. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The eight-player competition will be centered on the online game World Golf Tour by Topgolf, and will feature a prize pool of $5,000 USD. The announcement did not make mention of whether additional esports tournaments would be held around events in The European Tour.
“We’re always looking for new ways to bring world-class esports to fans all over the globe, and this truly is an amazing opportunity to do just that,” said Marcus Lindmark, CEO of DreamHack, in a statement. “With our huge experience in esports and organizing gaming events put together with European Tour’s know-how in golf tournaments, it’s going to be the ultimate crossover between competitive golf and esports.”

Already involved with several DreamHack events across the world, competing teams at the event will play on Omen by HP hardware on the mainstage, and there will be additional activations throughout the weekend. Financial terms were not disclosed.
DreamHack Rotterdam will be the main event of the first ever Rotterdam Games Week; a large scale festival taking place Oct. 18-20. In cooperation with DreamHack, events company Rotterdam Ahoy will be organizing and promoting the event at its convention center and arena—which hosted the first Spring finals of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) in April.
“OMEN by HP is a brand known for its quality, innovation and deep commitment to the gamers’ community,” said Jolanda Jansen, CEO of Rotterdam Ahoy, in a statement. “We are looking forward to work with HP to make DreamHack Rotterdam an event gamers will never ever forget.”
