Esports is among the sports which are set to be a part of the SEA games 2019 that is to be held at Manila later this year. The event is set to be held at FilOil Flying V Sports Arena in San Juan. Last year SEA games featured esports as a demonstration sport with popular titles such as Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, Clash Royale and Arena of Valor. The limitation on the titles are clearly visible from last year, but this year SEA games promises a even bigger library of esports titles on the line with a lot of new debuts.

The SEA Games which are to be held from November 30th to December 11th will feature 6 titles among which 3 are new debuts. The titles include Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tekken 7 and DOTA 2. You probably figured out the new debuts among the above mentioned already, but just to be clear the new debuts are DOTA 2, Tekken 7 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

DOTA 2 among the other debuts might be the biggest attraction of SEA games 2019 because SEA has a massive fan-base for the game. The craze for MOBA games is easily visible in countries like the Philippines and DOTA 2 is undoubtedly the game which reigns supreme in popularity among the fans in SEA.

DOTA 2 is a 5 vs 5 tower defense game where the objective is to fight enemy heroes in 3 lanes and to finally take down the main tower or the Ancient of your foe to win the game while making sure you don’t lose your own Ancient. The game was originally a mod of the very popular RTS game Warcraft 3 named Defense of the Ancients from way back in 2003, Valve Corporation built up DOTA 2 based on the original game with the help of the people who worked on the original DotA and released the game in 2013 after 2 years of beta testing. DOTA 2 didn’t disappoint fans because it took everything from Defense of the Ancients and built upon it to create a perfect sequel to the already popular game. Currently DOTA 2 is one of the most celebrated MOBA titles in the entire world and features tournaments like The International which is a multi-million dollar tournament with prize pools so high that barely any game comes close to it in terms of prize money.

So, without a doubt it will be great to watch a fan favorite like DOTA 2 making it into SEA games 2019 and to see how the teams play it out at the event.
