The best player in the Overwatch League just quit the game to play Valorant.
The San Francisco Shock’s DPS player, Sinatraa, has left an established league backed by one of the biggest publishers out there — not to mention what we know is a serious paycheck — to join an esports scene that doesn’t even exist yet.
While this is only good for Valorant, it has terrible implications for the future of the Overwatch League.

This is bad for the OWL. Really bad. Are we looking at the beginning of the end?
Delusional people are saying that pros are just "chasing the easy money" never mind the fact that they have to:
1. Drop everything for a scene that doesn't even exist yet
2. Relearn an entire new game professionally
3. Potentially completely change orgs
4. Leave behind contracts for hundreds of thousands of dollars (literally) with no promise of the same rewards – in fact they'll probably be earning significantly less for a long time
If Valorant did one thing well, they've shown that Blizzard's treatment of Overwatch and the OWL just doesn't' cut it for the esport scene
Valorant will be the next esport giant, no doubt about it.
Sinatraa was best 2019 player yes
This year he was washed and was benched the all time, no wonders he quit the game it was quite the downfall from best player to ultimate benchwarmer
before he quit ow I did not know who he was. it has no effect on my enjoynent of ow.
To me blizzard's idiocy of bänning people with wrong reasons and the ond news that you can't host tournaments as you place killed the ow already.
How would one get to play ow in pro if you can't com9ete in open tpurnaments held in your country where all are wellcomen?
Unless they reverted the decision or I am miss informed I am not allowed to make public ow tournament where there is price bool and entry fee wothout Blizzard's aproval??

Saying Sinatraa is best ovetwatch player is kinda stupid. He was great player and had besy zarya and doomfist s2 but thats it, his team played everything else better.
Overwatch for mobile wouldn't be such a bad idea.

This is a short sighted take.
Sinatra didn’t and won’t kill the overwatch league. What killed it is blizzard and their horrible business decisions and PR nightmare decisions, it started all the way back with hearthstone and the expansions being released and becoming pay-to-win and only escalated. Then the fall began when Blitzchung got banned and crucified. Overwatch, though being a good game and a game I sank hundreds of hours into became a joke to me, as the company that released it doesn’t support the ideals that the game carries. Then failure after failure with blizzard and the management shows that they care only about the cash and nothing about the player base, in any of their games. Blizzard is on the track of failing and losing everything it worked for, and its all because they thought that they could pump out a ton of money with features that not many people asked for or the game didn’t need. Banning in overwatch isn’t a bad idea, in fact sort of support it. What I don’t support is locking the characters, moving the platform, spitting in the face of loyal fans. It’s shallow and the only thing to blame for their failures will be their own incompetence. 2-2-2 made me stop watch OWL.
The banning of Blitzchung made me uninstall all blizzard games I owned and disconnect myself from the communities. I refuse to feel bad for them, what they need is a new group in management to cut the loses and fix the problem.
A good way to start in my eyes would to fucking pay Blitzchung.
