Cavs Legion GC Team Up With City of Cleveland to Open New Recreational Esports Facility

The Legion Lair Lit by TCP is now the home of Cavs Legion GC, the NBA 2K League team of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cavs Legion also announced that the 2,700+ square foot esports facility would host the new Cleveland Rec Esports Club, which serves the local youth in partnership with the City of Cleveland.

The facility has twenty-six gaming stations featuring Alienware and MSI gaming desktops, along with Raynor gaming chairs, SteelSeries peripherals, and portable WebAround green screens.

“Gaming is for anyone and everyone from anywhere. From esports enthusiasts to beginners or those who haven’t picked up a controller in decades, this will be “home” for every person who has an interest in gaming or just wants to learn more about it,” said Len Komoroski, Cavaliers CEO. “We are excited to open the doors and provide Cleveland, Northeast Ohio and the region with a unique place to compete, create and celebrate the world of competitive gaming.”

The Legion Lair’s entitlements partner is Lit by TCP, a North American company that specializes in energy-efficient lighting innovations. Lit by TCP is an Aurora, Ohio, based company founded in 1993. This is the company’s first entry into the esports space.

The venue will host the Hot Pockets Battle for Land, an NBA 2K two-man tournament, which will give out cash prizes for place. The amount of the prize purse was not disclosed.

“The Cleveland Rec Esports Club provides Cleveland’s youth with a chance to connect in a safe and fun environment, but also highlight career options in-game design, videography, esports marketing and more that are available in the City of Cleveland,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “Our partnership with Cavs Legion is one of the many ways we are working to ensure that residents and our youth are fully immersed and engaged in the city’s growing technology industry.”
