Raleigh, which is one of the most popular cities when it comes to esports events, will be the home for the 2022 World Championship Finals. This will be the first LAN event in the history of the World Championship. Additionally, the event will be a momentous one as it will be held alongside the Call of Duty League (CDL) 2023 Major 1 and the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl.

To qualify for the 2022 World Championship Finals, teams had to go through four different stages. This consisted of an open qualification phase, a team game, a regional qualification phase and the regional qualifiers. There are five different regions in the CoD Mobile World Championship: North America, Europe, Japan, LATAM, and India. Southeast Asia and China, on the other hand, have their own regional tournaments heading to the CoD Mobile World Championship Finals.

First Call of Duty Mobile LAN World Championship
Although the CoD Mobile World Championship was introduced in 2020, this will be the first full world finals of the mobile shooter. As you may have guessed, this is because the last two editions were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 World Championship Finals were canceled because of the COVID restrictions. Activision didn’t hold it as an online event because of the ping disparity teams would face from around the world. The $750,000 prize pool was distributed evenly between the eight qualified teams.

While this came as a huge disappointment to CoD Mobile fans, Activision brought the world championship back for the 2021 edition. This year’s World Championship Finals were also supposed to be a LAN event.

Twelve teams competed in each region with a cumulative prize pool of $2 million which was evenly divided between the East and the West. In the West, North America’s Tribe Gaming were crowned the champions. In the East, on the other hand, the Philippines’ Blacklist Ultimate put up a dominant performance to take first place.

Considering that this will be the first-ever global LAN event for the game, it’s safe to say that this will be one of the biggest esports events of the year. With $1.7 million on the line and a live audience, we can expect a bunch of exciting matches.
