Call of Duty League cancelled following coronavirus pandemic

by Alex Pete

Activision Blizzard has revealed that due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), all the Call of Duty League homecoming competitions for 2020 have been cancelled.

Instead, the games are played online and streamed to fans. The organisation postponed all home activities in the Overwatch League until April earlier this week.

Nine additional events of the home series were scheduled through June in various cities and the weekend of the All-Star Weekends as well as the seasonal Championship. Activision Blizzard will reveal new dates for online replacement match broadcasting.

Riot Games yesterday alone announced that the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) would play the matches without public attendees and the forthcoming Super Smash Bros. World Tour removed future events from the calendar.
