League/Tournament Brands:

  • The Chicago Huntsmen, a franchise in the new Call of Duty League, has partnered with gaming headset brand Turtle Beach.
  • Hector Rodriguez, Co-CEO of NRG Esports, collaborated for several years with Turtle Beach—which included a multi-year partnership with OpTiC Gaming.
  • The league begins today with the first match between the Huntsmen and the Dallas Empire, as part of the Launch Weekend in Minnesota.

The Chicago Huntsman, the Call of Duty League (CDL) team of NRG Esports, has revealed a partnership with gaming headset brand Turtle Beach. It is one of the first commercial deals announced for a CDL franchise, and continues several years of collaboration between Turtle Beach and Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, who joined NRG as co-CEO in September 2019. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Turtle Beach will supply Huntsmen players with its Elite Pro series headsets for team play, and streaming. The brand will also work with Rodriguez and the players on content. “What can I say? Turtle Beach has been a great partner over the years, so as I build another winning organization with the Huntsmen it’s important that they have the very best equipment,” said Rodriguez, in a statement. “Turtle Beach has been a part of my life in gaming since the very beginning, and I’m excited we get to continue stacking up more wins and creating more amazing content together.”

Turtle Beach has ongoing partnerships with Astralis, VFL Wolfsburg, and Overwatch League franchise the Houston Outlaws. It was also a multi-year partner of OpTic Gaming, the esports organization led by Rodriguez, before its acquisition and transition into a Los Angeles CDL franchise by Immortals Gaming Club last year.

The Huntsman will kick off the CDL inaugural season today with a match against Dallas Empire. This will be part of the Launch Weekend event, hosted by the Minnesota RØKKR—the first of a year-long set of planned homestand competitions.
