A new partnership between the Atlanta Reign and Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Operators Association has been signed that will see the Overwatch League team offer discounts and other deals on behalf of the fast food chain. As part of the agreement the Atlanta Reign will promote and provide McDonald’s discounts for fans online, with special offers for delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash.

“It’s a great time to have an online community, it gives us all something to lean on during hard times,” said Paul Hamilton, president and CEO of the Atlanta Reign, “Our partnership with McDonald’s will help us entertain and support Atlanta Reign fans online for the rest of the season.”

This partnership comes after the league canceled the remainder of live homestand matches across the league, including Atlanta. The Overwatch League is now being played entirely online.

As esports events continue to be canceled and postponed, brands and sponsors have shifted strategies to better take advantage of online advertising inventory and space. The major pivot brands have moved to is that of offering discounts and prizes during online events as well as creating new ways to build advertising inventory such as the Misfits Gaming Group’s new League of Legends stream Misfits Warmup.
