ASA Entertainment announced that its all-women esports tournament, Super Girl Gamer Pro, will return for its third year as part of Nissan’s Super Girl Pro festival July 26-28. Held each year in Oceanside, Calif., the free festival hosts the world’s largest surf competition for women along with an all-women DJ competition, skateboarding competition, and concert.

Super Girl Gamer Pro will host three days of open tournaments and dedicated gameplay booths in Fortnite, League of Legends, Hearthstone, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. On July 28, a professional all-star match will be held in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).

The event will be sponsored by a number of brands including Turtle Beach, which will provide PC gaming headsets and ROCCAT peripherals. Lenovo Legion will provide PCs and monitors for the tournaments as well as Y540 Laptops for the winners. Other event partners include the U.S. Air Force, DXRacer, and Nissan.

“This is an exceptionally important initiative given the lack of opportunity and general toxicity towards women in esports, and the Super Girl Gamer Pro is the perfect platform to help propel this movement towards inclusion,” Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment said in a release.

Gameplay from the festival will be streamed on Twitch, Facebook Gaming, YouTube, and Mixer, with a live broadcast produced by N3rd Street Gamers.

According to Newzoo, 46% of the world’s gaming enthusiasts are women. In June 2018, Tencent released a report that found roughly 24% of esports players in China are women.

Women-only esports events have become more commonplace in recent years to promote equality and encourage this demographic to actively participate. BenQ’s DIVINA initiative has been creating esports competition opportunities for women since 2011, including a $15K Women’s PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) tournament in December. Now in its third year, GIRLGAMER Esports Festival hosts worldwide regional events that include pro tournaments and business conferences.

Esports organizations have also fielded a number of all-women teams, including Gen.GDignitas, and Counter Logic Gaming’s CLG Red.
