Sports apparel and equipment brand Adidas has been announced as a sponsor for EA Sports’ FIFA 20 Global Series, and will be represented during competition via an official branded digital game ball.

The official game ball will feature a red-and-black cross design, as well as the FIFA Ultimate Team logo, and will debut at the season-opening FIFA Ultimate Team Champions Cup event on Nov. 8. Fans can also unlock the ball in FIFA 20 via in-game packs or by watching the FIFA 20 Global Series on Twitch with a paired EA account.

“We view partnerships for the global game of EA Sports FIFA to be a vital connector between football culture and FIFA culture,” said FIFA Competitive Gaming Commissioner Brent Koning, in a release. “This ground-breaking partnership with Adidas to field the official EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series official ball reinforces the growth of this competitive gaming franchise. Having a partner with such an iconic brand rooted in football culture—both on and off the field—will continue to build player and spectator interest in the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series.”

Adidas also sponsored last year’s FIFA 19 Global Series. As part of its growing focus on competitive gaming, Adidas has also produced a series of short films with performance specialists EXOS about maximizing esports performance. The videos will debut later this year.

EA Sports announced the FIFA 20 Global Series last week, revealing a similar competitive schedule to last year’s tournament including six live Champions Cup events, a FIFA eClub World Cup in February 2020, a FIFA eNations Cup in May, and a pair of playoffs events before the FIFA eWorld Cup final in July. The FIFA 20 Global Series will award more than $3M in total prizing.
