What is the FGC? How Hype, Sweat and Tears Saved Gaming’s Oldest Scene

by devaccess

The FGC might be the most incredible institution in competitive gaming and over the years, it’s given esports’ some of its most memorable moments.

But where did this scene with such a rich history, built by dozens of iconic games and personalities begin?

All i play is Smash Ultimate, but i love the history behind the whole FGC. Having legends such as Valle and Daigo, all the way to Armada, M2K and Mango staying in the scene really keeps it going. We don't have the money or the support that Dota 2 or CSGO have from the developers, because we support it plenty enough on our own, and i love that.

but hey, Nintendo, psst….
pls sponsor tournaments

1. Tekken
2. Core-A Gaming
3. The Score eSports

Why did you guys delete my comment? All I said was that the black kids ruin the scene for everyone and provided evidence to my claims. Low Tier god with his openly salty behavior, FC Jago rigging high stakes money matches, Sanford Kelly throwing his fight stick after losing a match at a tournament, Triforce forcing his players to make fake acceptance speeches after winning tournaments, giving him all the credit to thier sucess. And let's not forget everyone's favorite fighting game competitor Noel Brown, the first person to ever attack another player at a tournament because he lost, except the person he attacked was a SPECTATOR, the guy had a broken leg for god sakes and Noel got upset because he was cheering for Noel's opponent. And then there was that time when Noel viciously attacked his ex-girlfriend at fucking EVO of all places because one of his friends had tipped him off about her having sex with her new partner in one of the hotel rooms at a hotel he himself happened to be staying at. The worst part is that he beat her bloody while she was fully naked and he had the audacity to have the biggest shit eating grin in his mugshot. Thank you for deleting my comment "theScoreEsports" you guys really do your best to not get the word out there…. oh and by the way?

We have limits despite our Variety. Like, never associate the Anime Brawlers like MHA One Justice or Naruto Ninja Storm a game part of the FGC

People say shit about fighting games not having a proper story.
The real epic stories are in the tournament scene.

Capcom didn’t kill Marvel Vs Capcom. Marvel had a lot more control over that game than Capcom and the season pass for the game shows that. I blame Marvel more for what happen to that game than Capcom.

Good video, but I wish you had shown a bit more of the fight on Evo moment 37, that moment is so beautiful.

The only representation Smash got in a video talking about the FGC was that it is debatable whether or not Smash is part of the FGC. Not even a mention of the Wombo Combo.

…Huh
