Hi Pawel, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. So, what is the story behind Elgiganten Gaming?
Our team has been playing for over two years, but with this particular squad we’ve only been competing for nine months. After Contenders Phase 2, one of our members decided to leave so we had to make a change.
Back then, there weren’t many Polish players that we could choose from so we decided to give “Marcelek” a chance as he was the strongest ‘aimer’ out of the free agents.
You came through online qualifiers, did you always believe you would progress?
We were pretty confident going into qualifiers since we are one of the teams who practices every single day. We felt well prepared.
The final day was a little bit stressful, but we were in a good position so just focused on playing our game and it worked out well.
The PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals is just a few days away now, can you talk me through your training routine?
So, we basically train every day, either through scrims or GLL. In a few days we are going to Finland for Lantrek which we are going to treat as a bootcamp for PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals. We’ll then come back for a few days to grind more GLL before Berlin.
The beauty of PGS is that you can go from online qualifiers to playing the best teams in the region in the space of a few weeks. What advice would you give to players who want to start their own PUBG team?
If you are new to the game, watch a lot of pro streamers and then just play, play and play some more.
PUBG is all about experience, there are no shortcuts. Watch as many VODs as you can from other tournaments and try to think about why certain teams play the way they do.
What I’ve learnt about PUBG is when it comes to recruiting teammates, focus on those who are smart and can take care of themselves in stressful situations. That way you don’t have to micromanage anyone. It’s a lot easier for most players to learn shooting than thinking in this game.
Then you just need to add some experience, smart players, good ‘aimers’ and boom – you have a top team!
What excites you most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?
The chance to compete against top teams on LAN again and prove that we can do it this time. We’re also excited to see old friends and new players.
How do you rate your chances of progressing?
I don’t like to talk about that whenever I am asked. I like to go into the tournament as confident as I can and of course I believe that our team can progress. I think that almost every team in this tournament can make the top six since it’s only best of 12.
Looking forward, what other plans do you have for 2020?
Let’s see what PUBG has got in store for us in 2020. I want us to play as many tournaments as we can since it’s the best way to practice. Only that way can we get better and better.
