League/Tournament Brands:

Two more esports entities have halted playing in China. Both the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Global Series (PGS) and the League of Legends Pacific Championship Series (PCS) have decided to suspend indefinitely respective competitions in China due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the region.

PUBG Corp. made its announcement about PGS and China via Twitter:

“Due to the health concerns surrounding Coronavirus, we have decided to postpone the China qualifiers until further notice. Our first priority is the safety of our players, staff, and fans.

We thank you for your understanding and will provide more information at a later date.”

The PCS announced via its Facebook page that it had also decided to halt competitive play in China:

“In light of the novel coronavirus outbreak and its development in our region, we have decided to postpone the start of the PCS in the interest of the safety and well-being of our players and teams. Amongst other considerations, several members of the operational staff, as well as team(s) staff have been affected by travel restrictions that have been implemented to mitigate the spread of the virus. To all fans, we apologize for this delay and will be sharing any updates on the schedule as soon as we can. Please stay safe and protected, and we thank you for your support!”

These two stoppages come on the heels of previous announcements made in January that saw the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) APAC Grand Final, CrossFire Professional League (CFPL), CrossFire Mobile League (CFML), League of Legends Pro League (LPL), and League of Legends Development League (LDL) all cancel competitive play in China due to health concerns.
